The Challenge

In our core workflow, when a customer places an order, we forward it to the manufacturer. The manufacturer receives either the entire order or parts of it and is given a specific timeframe to review the job. An important part of this review process is comparing the 2D drawings with the 3D models. Previously, users had to open the 3D file and the 2D file in separate tabs or download and upload them into their own software, which typically took 10 to 15 minutes. This method was not only cumbersome but also often resulted in missing information.

The Outcome

A modal now provides a side-by-side view of the 2D drawing and 3D model, with adjustable view panes. This feature includes tools for analyzing the 3D model, such as transparency mode, section view, dimensions, and surface selection. As a result, the average time to accept and review jobs has been reduced by 5 minutes.
