Redefining the way people share identities with one another through Germ.

The Challenge

Private messaging has come a long way since the era of AOL Instant Messenger and basic direct messages. Today, users value privacy, autonomy, control over their connections, and customizable sharing options. So, how can you design a platform that honors these priorities while remaining user-friendly? Enter Germ—a unique private messaging app that allows users to manage multiple profiles under one account. Germ 1.0 boasted an impressive backend with end-to-end encryption; however, its front end and user experience did not align with its brand and company values. Consequently, Germ 2.0 needed to address these major UX issues and undergo a UI update.
